TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — More teachers in Pima County are now able to get vaccinated.

A computer system issue led to recent cuts in vaccine allotments to districts.

For example, Vail, Sunnyside and Amphi had their numbers significantly reduced, but we've learned the system is now operating as it should as of Wednesday.

Sources told us the district liason had been entering appointments by hand and it's now fully automated.

Health Director Dr. Franscisco Garcia confirmed, "We will put everyone through that same REDCap individual registration process."

Amphi delayed the re-opening of campus because of the vaccine limitation and the current high spread of the COVID vaccine.

Health Director Dr. Franscisco Garcia told district superintendents, "Don't think about vaccination as the go or no go for starting in-person schooling. Make that decision independently of that because they really are separate decisions."

The PCHD is beefing up staff -- hiring multiple, temporary, full time positions to work on their COVID-19 Response Team.

It's scheduled two hiring events on Wednesday, Jan. 27 and the other on Saturday, Jan. 30.
