TUCSON, Ariz. — Since 1986, locally owned La Estrella Bakery has given southern Arizona a taste of the sweeter side of life.

While it's not business as usual they say they're taking it one day at a time.

For more than 30 years they've used the same family recipes.

The bakery makes fresh Mexican goods, breads, rolls, pastries, donuts, cookies and cakes, along with staples like tortillas, tamales and menudo.

Manager Isabel Montano said "Sometimes we have a lot of bread left over and other days, we can't, you know foresee what we're going to do the next day so it's been a little bit of a challenge with the inventory and stuff because we can't really plan."

They say at their locations they only allow three customers inside the store at a time.

There are two La Estrella Bakery locations:

  • 5266 S 12th Ave
  • 120 South Avenida del Convento -- in the Mercado San Agustin public market
