A one-year-old boy pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Avondale died at the hospital on Saturday afternoon.
According to Avondale fire officials, the child was found in the pool by family members during a family gathering at a home near 107th Avenue and Thomas Road. A family member performed CPR on the boy until rescue crews arrived. It's unknown how long the boy was underwater.
Officials say the child was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition but later died.
Additional information was not immediately available.
Avondale police are investigating.
