Arizona Department of Public Safety officials detained three people in a stolen vehicle after a pursuit that lasted for more than an hour on Monday morning.

DPS says they were called to assist a police helicopter that was following a stolen red sedan along the SR-51 in Phoenix around 4 a.m.

Officials followed the sedan for more than 30 miles from Phoenix to Scottsdale on the Loop 101, into Peoria on city streets, and along the I-17, spiking the vehicle's tires along the way.

At times, DPS says the vehicle was traveling upwards of 90 miles per hour.

Around 5:30 a.m., the vehicle finally stopped near 24th Drive and Glendale Avenue where the occupants of the car tried to get away on foot. All three were detained in the area.

Video from the scene showed the car's front tires were gone after damage sustained during the chase.

There is no word yet on where the vehicle was stolen, but DPS says a rifle was found inside the car and there were reports of stolen ammunition as well.
