With 9.5 million copies of his books sold in the U.S., this American author is bringing in $87 million, with many of his books being adapted for the big and small screen. His most popular book series is Alex Cross.
1. J. K. Rowling
The British author has sold over 400 million copies worldwide bringing in $95 this year. Her latest offering Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a hit at bookstores and the box office.
