A teenage boy has been charged after he allegedly stabbed a teenage girl several times at a Phoenix home Tuesday.
Officials were called to a home near 41st Avenue and Buckeye Road before noon in response to a stabbing call.
Police say a 13-year-old boy had stabbed a 13-year-old girl "numerous" times with a knife.
The boy reportedly told officers his intentions were to murder the girl.
She was taken to a pediatric trauma facility in stable condition. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The boy was taken into custody without incident at a nearby home. According to police, the two are neighbors and have known each other for years.
Police say detectives learned that the boy had gone to the victim's home with the intention of stabbing her.
According to police, the boy knocked on the girl's door, and when he found that the girl's mother wasn't home, he asked to borrow something from the kitchen.
When she returned, the boy allegedly stabbed the victim repeatedly on her head and body.
He has since been charged with attempted homicide and is being detained at the Maricopa County Juvenile Court Center.
