Authorities say a suspect is in custody for allegedly kidnapping a nine-year-old girl in Phoenix.
On Friday, officers responded to the area of 19th and Glendale avenues around 4 a.m. after receiving reports of unknown trouble.
According to a police spokesperson, a nine-year-old girl asked witnesses for help after being taken from her home by a suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Dakota Johnson.
The girl wasn’t injured during the incident and was able to escape, officials said. Officers were able to locate the victim’s home which was near Glendale and 21st avenues.
During the investigation, officers found evidence at the victim’s home which were consistent with her statement.
Authorities continued searching for the suspect and detained Johnson around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of 18th and Glendale avenues.
While being questioned, detectives developed enough probable cause to arrest Johnson for kidnapping.
