Woman rescued from Phoenix apartment fire, dies at hospital

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died after being rescued from an apartment fire in north Phoenix.

Officials with the Phoenix Fire Department say crews responded to a fire Saturday afternoon Peoria and 35th avenues.

Firefighters quickly gained control of the fire and rescued the woman, who was taken to a burn unit but later died.

The woman's name and age haven't been released yet.

Authorities say the cause of the fire isn't immediately clear and remains under investigation.
