PHOENIX (AP) - Police in Phoenix have released the name of a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a pickup truck.
They say the victim was 18-year-old Simone Denise Regina Lewis.
Police say the woman wasn't in a crosswalk when she was struck shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Lewis was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say the 21-year-old driver of the car remained at the scene for questioning and appeared to be impaired.
He was cited for DUI and released. His name hasn't been released.
According to police, the man told investigators he saw the pedestrian in the roadway right before the collision but was unable to stop.
Police say speed doesn't appear to be a factor in the fatal incident and their investigation is ongoing.
