MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a 70-year-old man has died after being shot by Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies following a confrontation in Mesa.
Sheriff's officials received a call Sunday from a woman who said her husband was acting out of character and she feared for her safety.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they say Rodney Liveringhouse came out of the house holding firearms.
Sheriff's officials say Liveringhouse refused numerous commands to drop the weapons and was shot when he reportedly pointed a gun at the deputies.
Liveringhouse was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
