PHOENIX (AP) - A man accused of firing shots at Phoenix police officers trying to execute a warrant on him in 2017 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials say Jeffrey Werner was sentenced Tuesday on three counts of attempted murder of law enforcement officers and nine counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement officers.

As part of his plea agreement, the 37-year-old Werner also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, unlawful flight and possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.

In September 2017, police tried to conduct a traffic stop on Werner, who had a warrant for his arrest out of Yavapai County.

They say Werner fired shot at officers two different times before he was taken down by a police dog.
