Authorities say they have apprehended a man who planned to commit acts of terror against government buildings in two Arizona counties.

Mia Garcia, a spokeswoman for the Arizona Attorney's Office, said 18-year-old Mahin Khan was arrested Friday in Tucson after a joint investigation between her office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A recording of the arrest information at the Maricopa County Jail said he was arrested at 3:27 p.m.

Garcia said Khan planned to commit terrorism against government buildings in Pima and Maricopa counties.

Garcia and the FBI said Khan's planned attacks did not involve the Fourth of July or any related festivities.

Authorities said there were no outstanding suspects sought in the case, and said there was no threat to public safety.

Khan faces two charges: conspiracy to commit terrorism and terrorism, Garcia said.

Online jail information showed he was in the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. A judge withheld bond.

Garcia said further court records had been sealed, but would be reopened next week.
