Governor Doug Ducey has signed legislation that prohibits teenagers from texting while driving.
Senate Bill 1080 makes it illegal for teens within the first six months of driving to text while on the road.
“If we can use the early years of their driving experience as an opportunity to guide them toward safe and responsible habits, that’s a good thing,” Governor Ducey said.
SB1080 applies to teenagers who have been driving for less than six months, or until they reach the age of 18.
It also applies to teens with a learner’s permit.
