DPS: 1 person killed after 5-vehicle crash on I-10 in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead after a crash involving five vehicles on Interstate 10 in Tempe.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the crash occurred about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

They say one vehicle was hit from behind and that began the chain reaction event. Both vehicles lost control, when one of them collided with three other vehicles.

One of the vehicle then rolled over, ejecting the driver who wasn't wearing a seat belt .

Authorities say that person later died.

The name and age of the dead person hasn't been released yet.

Authorities say an investigation of the crash is ongoing.
