The national spotlight has been on Governor Doug Ducey and the state of Arizona after he pulled financial incentives from Nike's planned facility in Goodyear.< /span>

The move has drawn mixed reactions nationally, and Arizonans are no different. A new poll, however, reveals more support Governor Ducey than oppose him.

"74% of Republicans were in support of Ducey's decision and 64% of Democrats were opposed. However, those key independent voters were in support of the governor, 51 to 40," said Mike Noble, Chief of Researching for OH Predictive Insights.

Noble's poll was done within 24 hours of Governor Ducey's 2 a.m. Twitter storm announcing he was telling the state to pull a million dollars in incentive funding off the table.

Arizonans from across the state were polled via voice recording, and there is a roughly 3.5 margin for error. "Those with a college degree or higher are actually more opposed to [the move]," said Noble.

What does this mean for the 2020 Presidential Election? "Arizona is currently rated as a toss-up, because Trump only won by three and a half points and that was before he was an elected official, now he has a bit of a record," said Noble.

Noble said if education and healthcare become bigger priorities, that will help Democrats in Arizona. "And conversely, if immigration is a higher priority issue. that will benefit Republicans," he said.

Noble also said the move helps Governor Ducey move into the national spotlight more, and potentially set himself up for the larger stage after his second term ends.

A recent Gallup poll found pride in America to be at an all-time low, with only 45 percent of Americans saying they feel extremely proud.

OHPI also asked poll respondents how proud they are to be an American.

A large majority of Independent voters (89%) said they were either extremely proud or moderately proud to be an American. 95% of Republicans and 81% of Democrats also answered this way.
