PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Court of Appeals is considering seven candidates for a vacancy left by a judge's death.

A commission will hold a public review next week of applicants to replace Judge Jon Thompson on Division I of the appeals court.

Members of the public will be able to address the commission directly or send in written comments.

Applicants include Bradley Carlyon, Veronika Fabian, Joseph Goldstein, Benjamin Kreutzberg, Matthew Mansfield, William Ring and D. Steven Williams.

The meeting is scheduled for Aug. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at the Arizona State Courts Building in Phoenix.

The 65-year-old Thompson died last month.

One of Arizona's longest serving judges, he has been with the court since 1995.

A cause of death was not released.
