Education was front and center at the Arizona State Capitol on Tuesday.

The Senate Education Committee voted to move forward several bills. One of them, would require all state schools who issue student ID’s to put the phone number for the suicide prevention lifeline on the ID card.

Another bill moving forward would require more resources in schools for students with dyslexia, something parents have fought for.

“Three of my boys were dyslexic and if a bill like that was in place when they were in kindergarten-3rd grade it would’ve saved a lot of heartache and trauma to be quite honest and a lot of self esteem,” said parent Tiffany Greene.

Another bill moving forward won’t allow schools to “shame” students for school lunch debt.

The bills are expected to be heard on the senate floor at a later date.
