Volunteers are needed for the 2018 Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Count.

Pima Association of Governments conducts the event every year to determine appropriate locations for bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements.

According to the association's website, volunteers will count 80 locations through the entire region.

The program began in 2008 to:

  • Better understand trends/characteristics of cyclists by collecting data on: direction of travel, gender, age, helmet usage, sidewalk riding and wrong-way riding
  • Help evaluate planning efforts
  • Help guide investments

New volunteers must attend one of the training sessions offered on September 25 from 6-7 p.m. or on September 26 from 2-3 p.m.
