For the first time in decades, more people are traveling this year for Thanksgiving.
According to a new study by AAA, more than 54 million Americans will travel nationwide this Thanksgiving.
In Arizona, more than one million people are expected to travel, more than 900,000 of them will hit the road.
Danny Gonzalez traveled from Texas to Tucson with his family, he says he decided to start traveling early to beat traffic.
"It didn't get tough until we got here. We got here at five o'clock last night and that's when it started getting tight on I-10 coming in near the Valencia exit."
Gonzalez says now he is more worried about the drive they'll have to make on their way back to Texas.
For him and countless other drivers, safety is a concern. For that reason, he is hoping people will be vigilant while on the road.
"Drive the speed limit, don't go crazy, watch out for the 18-wheelers, respect them and they'll respect you, don't cross them and they won't cross you like that."
