Authorities are investigating after a woman was shot and killed by her husband Sunday morning at their Phoenix home.
Officers initially responded to the home near Loop 101 and 35th Avenue around 7:45 a.m. after receiving a call from a 31-year-old man who said he had been shot by his wife, and that he had also shot her.
Phoenix police Sgt. Vince Lewis said officers found the man with a non life-threatening injury, and his 37-year-old wife critically injured. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to the hospital to be treated.
A police spokesperson on Sunday said it appears the pair got into an altercation before the shooting.
According to Lewis, two young children were at the home at the time of the incident.
