Phoenix police are looking into how at least a dozen dogs died or became sick at a home in west Phoenix.

A person came home from work on Thursday and found eight of her 12 dogs dead and the four others sick, said Officer James Holmes in a media release.

There were no signs of obvious trauma to the dogs, said police. An examination of the pets has been scheduled, but not yet performed.

Police said there are at least two other reports in the general area of pets becoming either sick or dead under suspicious circumstances. In one case, one pet was found to have been injured with an object, possibly an ice pack.

The incidents have happened between May 5 and May 26 near 85th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Authorities are asking for the public's help. If anyone has any information connected to the case to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
