PD: Suspect in Ahwatukee shooting, Glendale carjacking dies after high-speed chase

A 25-year-old man suspected in a deadly Ahwatukee shooting Wednesday morning is dead after stealing a woman's car in Glendale and leading officials on a high-speed chase, KGUN9 sister station KNXV reports.

Phoenix police said the suspect was "down" near Dove Valley and North Valley Parkway after his stolen yellow Corvette was rammed by an undercover SUV, and officers drew their weapons. No officers were hurt in the incident.

Police confirmed the suspect was involved in a Thursday morning shooting that left a 40-year-old man dead inside his apartment near 48th Street and Elliot Road.It appears the shooting may have stemmed from drug activity. 

Police confirm they are still looking for at least one more suspect wanted in that Ahwatukee shooting.

According to police, the 25-year-old suspect fled and was later involved in an armed robbery and carjacking in Glendale. The man reportedly stole a woman's truck near 63rd Avenue and Bell Road and fled the area.

Glendale police told ABC15 as they were investigating the attack, they were told by Phoenix police that the suspect was tied to their investigation.

Police say the suspect then left the white truck, and stole a yellow Corvette in the area of 7th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Video from the scene shows the white truck was crashed into a shopping center window in that area.

Police later made contact with the suspect as he led authorities on a high-speed pursuit in that Corvette.

Air15 video showed the suspect speeding on northbound Interstate 17 before exiting in north Phoenix and going the wrong direction on surface streets, nearly missing oncoming vehicles.

The chase came to an end in the intersection of North Valley and Dove Valley Parkway, where police rammed the Corvette.

Police in a 3:30 p.m. press conference confirmed the suspect was killed in the confrontation at the intersection.
