Officials have arrested a man who allegedly shot a woman in Casa Grande on Monday.
Casa Grande police responded to reports of a shots fired called in the 1500 block of East Alba Drive.
When officers arrived on the scene they found an 18-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a Phoenix hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim was holding her 6-month-old son at the time of the shooting and suffered a non-life threatening injury. The child was transported to a Phoenix-area hospital as well.
The sister of the victim was home at the time but she was not injured.
According to police, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect, 20-year-old Monico Alvarez and arrested him at a convenience store at 1592 North Casa Grande Avenue.
Alvarez is reportedly the ex-boyfriend of the sister of the initial victim.
The suspect was booked into jail for aggravated assault, engagement and disorderly conduct.
