Three women have been arrested in the death of a 3-year-old Maricopa girl.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said 3-year-old Tiana Capps died from blunt force trauma while in the care of 45-year-old Shawn Main.

Main was arrested and charged with murder and child abuse on December 24 after a month-long investigation.

Along with Main, the child's biological mother, 27-year-old Tina Morse, and roommate, 46-year-old Maria Tiglao, were both charged with five counts of child abuse.

PCSO spokesman Mark Clark said Main was driving the child to the hospital around 6:20 a.m. on November 19 when she called 911.

Clark said Main told officials she was driving the child to the hospital because the girl was in "medical distress."

Deputies and paramedics met the woman near Amarillo Valley and Century roads where she pulled off the street at the dispatcher's request.

Emergency crews began life-saving measures before the girl was rushed to a nearby emergency room, where she died.

The girl lived with her mother and two other women at a home near Maricopa.

When detectives arrived at the house for the initial investigation, they found animal feces and “filthy” living conditions.

Three other children--ages 5, 4 and 5-months-old--lived at the home as well and were removed by the Department of Child Safety.

The five-year-old suffered head injuries and was malnourished. The two other children were also malnourished.

The three suspects remain in custody at Pinal County Adult Detention Center.
