It's Mother's Day weekend, and while you may still be wondering what gift to get, there's one thing you shouldn't discount -- that phone call to mom.
Experts say reaching out to mom isn't just the right thing to do, new research shows it can be good for your mental and emotional help.
"Our mom is our first social contact." said MSU Denver Psychology Professor Shawn Worthy, "When we have some kind of emotional distress, we want to reach out to that central person in our life."
Worthy also says our body releases the hormone oxytocin when we reach out and make that connection.
"And so it makes us feel loved. It makes us feel comfortable." said Worthy, "It gives us that warm feeling."
