Spotify has some new features and it should gain the attention of those not paying for the premium service.

The music streaming company just announced an overhaul of its mobile app for free listeners, unlocking content that used to be available for paid users only.

In the past, free users were forced to shuffle songs, but Spotify is freeing up more on-demand mobile music.

Free listeners will be able to listen on demand to 15 of Spotify's popular playlists, which include Daily Mix, Discover Weekly, Release Radar, or Today’s Top Hits. That's about 750 tracks and 40 hours of music.

Plus, Spotify has built in a low-data mode that cuts data consumption by up to 75 percent.

Although, advertisements will still run for those using a free account.

There are also rumors of a possible "smart speaker" in the works, and since Spotify is the most popular streaming music service out there, it would definitely give Google, Amazon, and Apple a run for their money.
