There is a heavy police presence at Mercy Hospital in Chicago after there were reports of shots fired inside the building Monday afternoon.
WLS-TV in Chicago is reporting there are multiple injuries, and the building is being partially evacuated.
Chicago Police said one officer was shot and wounded, and he is in critical condition. The TV station has interviewed witnesses who said they saw at least one person get shot and heard as many as 20 gunshots fired.
Some witnesses ducked and hid as they hear the gunshots ring out, WLS-TV reports.
Police also said the suspect was shot.
