A new survey by General Motors shows more teenagers are waiting to get behind the wheel, and many are doing so because vehicles are too expensive.

Other reasons teens said they aren't getting a driver's license:

• Transportation is easily accessible elsewhere or from others
• They are concerned with driving's impact on the environment
• They are able to communicate online instead of needing to be somewhere in person.

"I think Uber and Lyft and all these other companies coming around ... it's not sort of a big thing for them to get their license right away," said driving instructor Chris Bethea.

The GM survey also showed 22 percent of teenagers never plan to get a driver's license.
