Magnitude 4.2 earthquake shakes Los Angeles, no damage or injuries reported

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck north of Los Angeles on Thursday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred just north of Pacioma, California — a city about 20 miles north of Los Angeles. The quake lasted about ten seconds, and the epicenter was about five miles deep.

About ten minutes later, an aftershock of 3.3 magnitude hit, in addition to smaller aftershocks.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, there was no major damaged and "no loss of life or serious injury that we can directly attribute to the M4.2 earthquake."

Local television morning shows were on the air when the earthquake happened.
