An American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Boston was diverted Monday after a passenger began doing pull-ups during the flight, WBZ in Boston reported.

Per WBZ, the man in question appeared to be intoxicated during the flight that left Sky Harbor Airport at about 3:30 p.m. Arizona time Monday. He reportedly boarded the plane with a woman and two dogs.

“He would not sit down. The flight attendant probably asked him about three or four times to sit down and he refused to sit down and then he really got verbally abusive with her, starting calling her names,“ passenger David Markoski told Boston reporters.

“He was leaning up against where you put the bags overhead and a passenger came by and said, ‘What are you going to do, some pull ups?’ And the guy actually grabbed on to it and started doing some pull ups on the plane in front of everybody."

The flight was diverted to Kansas City, Missouri, where law enforcement removed the passenger from the plane, according to WBZ. The flight then continued to Boston and landed just after 10 p.m. Arizona time Monday.
