Faceplant video turns girls into viral stars

Damn Daniel” is soooo last month. The new term you’ll be repeating to your friends is “Are you OK honey?”

Makenna Kroge and Lexi Cornelius were eighth graders competing against each other in the 100m dash at a Green Bay, Wis. track meet last year when Makenna face-planted coming out of the blocks. After gathering herself and taking a few more steps, she bites it again.

If that’s not enough to tap into your typical teenager’s angst, what makes the video especially relatable  are the voices of her parents in the background — her dad yelling at her to "run" and her mom asking “are you OK honey?”

The video remained dormant for a year because the two girls didn’t know each other, but now they’re friends, attending different Green Bay high schools. Makenna gave Lexi the go-ahead to put the video on Twitter Saturday, and it’s since been retweeted more than 20,000 times by the likes of ESPN and a pro football player they can’t remember the name of.

Both say they had to shut down the notifications on their Twitter accounts, and they’ve been fielding interview requests from the likes of the New York Post.

The girls told the newspaper they’re hoping the video catches the attention of Ellen and they’ll get to go on the show, which would be like, totally awesome.
