In the wave of dog food recalls, another brand has made the list: Hill's Pet Nutrition.
Per a notice released on Hill's Pet's website, the recall for canned dog food is voluntary and is for high Vitamin D levels.
The FDA notes that, while vitamin D can be good for your dog, excess can cause Vitamin D toxicity.
The FDA says symptoms of toxicty include: vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling and weight loss. Vitamin D at toxic levels can cause kidney failure and death.
If you see your dog displaying these symptoms, or suspect they have consumed dog food with high levels of vitamin D, please take them to the vet and consider filing a pet food complaint.
