Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Thursday that officials had determined an additional person in the state had been killed a as result of last week's deadly tornado outbreak, bringing the state death toll to 75.

However, Beshear also noted that dozens of people who had been reported missing earlier this week have since been reported to be alive. The current count of unaccounted for or missing people is down to 16.

On Tuesday, Beshear said that more than 100 people were still missing.

Beshear's update came a day after President Joe Biden visited Kentucky to view the damage left behind by the storms. Biden viewed the damage in the hard-hit towns of Mayfield and Dawson Springs.

During his visit on Wednesday, Biden promised residents that the federal government would do whatever it could to help the area recover.

"You're going to heal, we're going to recover, we're going to rebuild and you're going to be stronger than you were before," Biden said. "We're going to build back better than it was."
