Two people have been killed after a plane crashed at a Mesa golf course Monday afternoon.

Forrest Smith, public information officer with the Mesa Fire Department, said the aircraft crashed at Longbow Golf Club near Higley and McDowell roads.

FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer said the aircraft, a Lancair Evolution, reported mechanical trouble and was unable to reach Falcon Field Airport, located just northeast of Falcon Field Airport.

Mesa police announced on Tuesday morning that the pilot killed in the crash was 53-year-old Alan Ram. The passenger in the plane has been identified as 22-year-old Krista Buchanan.

A spokesperson for Longbow Golf Course said they will be closed until at least Thursday.

The FAA and NTSB will investigate the crash, Kenitzer said.
