Tent City is officially no more, as the facility's final inmates have just been removed.
Maricopa County Sheriff's office confirms Tent City's remaining inmates were on Saturday taken to Durango Jail, a plan that Sheriff Paul Penzone announced back in April.
Penzone said the controversial detention facility, established by former Sheriff Joe Arpaio in 1993, would be shut down after it became a "circus atmosphere."
Penzone said the closure would save taxpayers $4.5 million.
