PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a wrong-way driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 17 in the northern outskirts of metro Phoenix at the beginning of the Tuesday morning commute.
Sgt. Kameron Lee of the state Department of Public Safety says impairment is suspected in the crash of the car that was southbound in northbound lanes when it collided with a tractor-trailer rig.
Lee says the truck's driver was uninjured and that the woman driving the wrong-way car was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
Northbound traffic on I-17 was diverted off the freeway at State Route 74 to North Valley Parkway and re-enter I-17 further north.
