PHOENIX (AP) - Part of a Phoenix freeway was shut down for nearly two hours during the Wednesday morning commute after a wreck involving a SUV pulling a work trailer dumped nails and other debris on the roadway.
Traffic backed up several miles while northbound I-17 in northwest Phoenix was closed for about 1 mile (1.6 kilometer), forcing traffic to get off the freeway and before getting back on at the next interchange.
A state Department of Public Safety spokesman said he had no information on whether the nails flattened tires of passing vehicles and whether any citations were issued.
