Tucson police shut down the intersection of Speedway at Main for several hours due to a deadly Wednesday morning wreck. The intersection has reopened.
The wreck involved a motorcycle, and the victim has died.
The motorcyclist has been identified as 23-year-old Rodrigo A. Ortega Saldate. Next of kin has been notified.
Investigators were able to determine that Saldate was traveling westbound on Speedway. As he entered the intersection of Main Avenue on a green light he was struck by a van that was making a left turn from eastbound Speedway.
Saldate was wearing a helmet and neither speed nor impairment seem to be factors in the crash.
No citations have been issued at this time and detectives are continuing the investigation.
Speedway and Main has reopened following this morning's fatal motorcycle collision.
