The stars of the most beloved Super Bowl commercials are making their way through Southern Arizona this week.
The horses have been the symbol of quality and tradition for Anheuser-Busch since 1933.
The eight-horse hitch will be harnessed and hitched to the famous red beer wagon at the following dates and locations:
- Thursday, February 18th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Class Six. Access restrictions apply.
- Friday, February 19th from 4-4:45 p.m. at Fry's Food Store at 8080 S. Houghton.
- Friday, February 19th from 5:15 to 6 p.m. at Walmart Supercenter located at 9260 S. Houghton.
The Clydesdales will be at Rillito Park Horse Track both Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, the beautiful animals will also be available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. during Farmer's Market.
It's not easy to get picked to be a Budweiser Clydesdale- the horses must be at least three years of age, stand approximately six feet, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail.
The horses are also extremely gentle animals.
A single Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day.
