TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department is investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian that happened Friday night.

Police responded to the area of Broadway Boulevard and Pantano Road just after 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, Tucson Fire was attempting to render aid, but the pedestrian died on the scene.

Police identified the pedestrian as 57-year-old Elizabeth A. Rafferty.

Detectives determined Rafferty was crossing Pantano going east to west in the 100 Block of N. Pantano Road.

Police say there was no crosswalk in the area and Rafferty was in dark clothes.

While Rafferty was walking a silver 2016 Kia SUV was traveling northbound in the curb lane, as the Kia approached Rafferty stepped off the curb.

The Kia then hit Rafferty.

The driver of the Kia stayed on scene.

Detectives determined the driver was not impaired and speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

No citations or charges have been issued at this time.
