SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a woman whose car stalled on a busy Scottsdale freeway is dead after she got out of the vehicle and was struck several times.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the incident happened early Saturday morning on westbound Loop 101 at Hayden Road.
According to DPS, several callers reported a sedan blocking traffic.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves says the agency received reports minutes later of a body in the roadway.
Investigators say the woman exited the car and was subsequently hit by at least four passing vehicles.
Her body was found a few hundred feet from her car.
Troopers do not believe impairment was a factor.
They say at least four drivers involved remained at the scene.
DPS is trying to determine why the vehicle stopped.
