PHOENIX (AP) - The FBI says a 56-year-old woman has been arrested in three bank robberies and two attempted bank robberies that occurred over 4½ -month span in metro Phoenix last year.

A criminal complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix charges Elizabeth Ainslie with five counts of bank robbery in robberies and attempted holdups previously said to have been conducted by a robber dubbed the "Biddy Bandit."

An affidavit by an FBI agent said the robber stole a total of $4,450 from three of the banks and left two others without obtaining any money.

According to the FBI, an anonymous tip ultimately led to the arrest of Ainslie.

An assistant federal public defender appointed to represent Ainslie did not immediately respond to a request Thursday for comment on the allegations.
