Arizona's basketball tipped off its exhibition season with a victory over the College of Idaho Yotes, but the future may not be looking as bright for the Wildcats.
The bad luck came in threes Tuesday night and the Wildcats are now without 3 key players, Ray Smith, Chance Comanche and Allonzo Trier.
Redshirt freshman Ray Smith is down with a leg injury early in his first appearance off the bench, he was already coming off of two ACL injuries heading in to this season.
Meanwhile. top returning scorer Allonzo Trier's status is still unclear, as it's been for nearly three weeks now.
Coach Sean Miller again declined to comment about his status, "i'll have no comment on Allonzo, next question," he told reporters on media day.
Additionally, just moments before tip-off, we learned Chance Comanche is suspended indefinitely "due to his own lack of academic responsibility."
Miller sent out a statement reading in part:
"As a member of our basketball program, you are a student and an athlete, and you are expected to do the best of your ability in both areas."
Coach Miller says that depth is clearly a factor early in the season, and walk-ons could be forced into game action sooner than expected.
