TUCSON, Ariz. - North Fontana Avenue is shut down in midtown Tucson Friday afternoon after a person shot at police and barricaded themselves inside the house.

Police say the road is closed between Fort Lowell Road and Delano Street while police handle the situation.

According to Tucson Police, it started when officers were attempting to take two individuals into custody at the home on Fontana. Officers took one person into custody, but say the other fired a shot at them and is now barricaded in his home.

TPD says, they requested a search warrant to enter the house. Upon entering the home they found a woman with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police haven’t said when they’ll reopen the roadway.
