Sierra Vista police arrested a man wanted on a local and federal warrant Sunday.
The man arrested was 34-year-old William Chesmore. He had been sought after by SVPD since being involved in a drug-related incident on March 3. Chesmore also had an outstanding warrant for probation violation dating back to January.
SVPD learned of his whereabouts Sunday. They found him at the Sun Canyon Inn, which is currently closed, and he was taken into custody.
Chesmore had black tar heroin in his possession at the time of his arrest. It was also discovered he had been in possession of a handgun earlier that day.
He was booked into Cochise County Jail on the following charges:
- Probation violation warrant out of the U.S. Marshals Service
- Possession of a dangerous drug for sale and possession of a narcotic drug for sale warrant out of SVPD
- Possession of a narcotic drug
- Misconduct involving weapons as a prohibited possessor
In the course of the investigation, SVPD also arrested 31-year-old Marybeth Ray for false reporting to law enforcement.
