A state commission is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Pima County Superior Court bench.

The vacancy is a result of the retirement of Judge Stephen Villarreal.

Gov. Doug Ducey will appoint Villarreal's replacement, choosing his appointee from among nominees recommended by a state commission on Pima County trial court appointments.

The commission will review applications, interview at least some of the applicants and recommend at least three to Ducey.

Applicants must be at least 30 years old, licensed to law in Arizona and have been an Arizona resident for the past five years and a Pima County resident for the past year.
