Vigil held for 3-year-old boy in Rita Ranch

Posted
A candlelight vigil was held Sunday night for a 3-year-old boy who hit and killed by a truck in Rita Ranch. Friends and family gathered at the same spot where Denver Greenberg lost his life just a few days ago.

Tucson firefighters and police officers also came out to pay their respects to a life gone too soon. Balloons, toys and hand written messages covered the sidewalk near Banbridge Street and Castle Bay where Denver was hit on Wednesday night.

Police say Denver was riding his scooter and had just entered an unmarked crosswalk when he struck by a truck. His father and his brother were walking behind him at the time.

One of Denver's older brothers spoke out at Sunday's vigil with a special message for drivers in Tucson.

"Try to be careful I guess," said Dakota Karsten. "I mean, accidents happen. When you go speeding down a road you may not be thinking about it until after it's already happened. I guess it just takes a second."

Tucson Police say the driver is cooperating and that speed an alcohol were not factors in the accident.
