Phil Villarreal's novel, Zeta Male, is available at Amazon.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) Nintendo's pink puffball has never been a pushover, but in his latest 3DS adventure, subtitled "Planet Robobot," he's an outright marauder.

The enemy-swallowing, shape-shifting hero dons a giant mech suit, slamming through walls, lifting giant objects and firing on enemies with a devastating arsernal. The suit also lets you scan your surroundings and transform into a jet plane or tank-like vehicle.

Kirby is one of Nintendo's most enduring franchises, and like the character himself, new entries keep the series lively by changing form frequently. Recent entries have seen a yarn-made Kirby romp through a world of craft items and become a claymation-style form shifter. The one constant has been consistently accessible and entrancing platforming action, and "Planet Robobot" upholds that standard.

Those looking to further tinker with Kirby's transformative qualities can shake things up by scanning in Kirby Amiibos that grant special abilities.

There's also cooperative multiplayer in the form of Team Kirby Clash, which lets you team up with as many as three other players in an RPG-like side mode that gives the game added life after you've plowed through the story campaign.

Yet another solid addition to one of the strongest first-party lineups on any platform. "KIrby Robobot" is yet another reason to keep your 3DS at your side in your travels.
