TUCSON, Ariz. — School supply donations are a big part during this time of year, and Verizon had a backpack giveaway Sunday.
An eastside Verizon store had a backpack giveaway from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
This event was nationwide for students in need of supplies.
Verizon says they look forward to this every year.
Jesus Leyva Verizon District Manager says "We Get kids in here all the time with smiles on their faces, thanking us, a lot of kids who actually don't have the ability to get a backpack so we actually make that happen every year."
Each participating store had 200 backpacks, that were given on a first-come first-serve basis.
Verizon says any bags that are left over will be donated to schools.
