TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – Two bullet holes in the window of Pelio Grill show how dangerous it could have been if people were inside when gunmen drove by and fired into the glass.
Surveillance video shows the spray of glass as someone shot into the popular restaurant at University and Park, near University of Arizona.
The incident happened about 4:45 Sunday morning. Now, the restaurant owner hopes you can help find the shooters.
Surveillance video shows the muzzle flash from a gun as someone shoots the glass at Pelio Grill. Video shot from other angles shows glass spraying into the room.
Pelio Grill is George Markou's restaurant. KGUN9 reporter Craig Smith asked him, “Nobody's got a grudge against you or your place. This just looks like really dangerous vandalism?
Markou: “This is just somebody that's out for target practice. That's all it is."
It may have been a target competition with two different guns.
Surveillance shows the glass fly as the same cars comes by for another shot about seven minutes after the first, then drives by two minutes after that, maybe to compare shots.
There was so much glass to clean up Pelio Grill lost most of its busy Sunday brunch business.
Inside, one slug's stuck in a wall. Another dented the steel hood over the grill. The hood still works but George Markou plans to fix it. He says otherwise, "Everyday this will remind me of what happened."
He hopes someone will recognize the car and tell police. And while he waits for the window repair, he covers the hole with a message: a sign that says guns are not allowed inside his business.
